Sylvia Molloy is an Argentine writer, critic, and professor, born in Buenos Aires in 1938. She has published a number of books and articles in Spanish and English, focusing primarily on twentieth-century Latin American literature and culture. Molloy's work has often explored issues of identity, gender, and power, particularly as they pertain to the position of women in literature and society. She has taught at a number of universities in both Argentina and the United States, including the University of California, Berkeley and New York University. In 2018, Molloy was awarded the Americas Award for Children's and Young Adult Literature for her book "En breve cárcel" (In Brief Jail).
